In Catchball, the captain plays a crucial role both before and during the game. Here are the main responsibilities of the captain:

Before the Game:

• The captain represents the team in official pre-game interactions.

• She signs the official game registration sheet.

• She participates in the coin toss to determine the initial serve.

 

During the Game:

• The captain must be an active player on the court (a Libero player cannot serve as captain).

• She acts as the official team representative and communicates with the referees.

• When the ball is out of play, only the captain is allowed to approach the referee for clarification regarding decisions or rule interpretations.

• If the captain is substituted out, another player on the court must be designated as the acting captain, but not the Libero.

 

Overall Responsibilities:

• The captain, along with the head of the team and the coach, is responsible for ensuring sportsmanship and team discipline.
